Gemstone Cutting
Mark Nuell is a lapidary and goldsmith artist working from his studio in the heart of Central London. He sources rough gemstones directly from the mines, which he then skillfully cuts into unique designs, reflecting the natural beauty of each stone.
Mark has a close and long-standing relationship with sapphire mines in Australia. His family used to mine sapphires in Rubyvale for nearly 30 years.
In collaboration with Masterpiece Collective, who are world-leading at providing ultra-rare high-quality gems, Mark cuts precision-cut gemstones that can be purchased individually.
The art of lapidary, or shaping and polishing gemstones, is a dying craft. Mark mastered the technique and made it his own.
While lapidary is a precise art, Mark has a keen eye for freeform gem cutting. He is passionate about exploring freeform and unique faceting, re-inventing the traditional techniques of lapidary.
With 30 years of goldsmithing experience, Mark integrates the gems into exquisite jewellery pieces.
